TSA Case Locks - Search Alert

The new looped design of SearchAlert Case Locks with a larger diameter shackle can be used with many styles of specialty luggage such as fiber cases, weapon cases, electronic equipment, skiing equipment, golf bags and much more. This new larger loop was made specifically for checked cases at the airport that require the additional security of a _-inch shackle.

As with all SearchAlert locks, the SearchAlert Case Lock is TSA approved and able to be opened for security screening without doing damage to the lock. Additionally, the new SearchAlert Case Lock Series allows you to determine if your lock has been opened by a TSA agent thanks to the patented Green-Red Security Window.

The new SearchAlert Case Lock was designed at the request of electronic technicians, photographers, sportsmen, law enforcement officials and members of the military for use with fiber cases, electronic monitoring devices, electronic cameras, weapons of all kinds, skiing equipment, fishing tackle and golf bags that are not allowed as carry-on items by airlines.

It can also be used as a locker lock for box lockers and lockers with vertical rod locking handles, at health clubs, golf courses, and hotel exercise and recreation areas.

These strong, durable locks are made of die cast alloy construction and are available in Black and Pewter.

SearchAlert Case Locks are the first combination locks specifically designed for your specialty luggage needs.

Two unique innovations in luggage security:

    1. SearchAlert can be opened by a TSA agent using an override device. Thanks to this new technology, no damage to the lock occurs.
    2. The unique Security Window changes color when any override device is used.

The Security Window changes from Green to Red under the following conditions:

  • Checked luggage at an airport is sent through a screening process. When a TSA agent decides that further screening is necessary, the luggage needs to be hand searched. SearchAlert Locks can be opened without cutting or damaging the lock. When the override is used, the patented Security Window will change colors to alert the owner that the lock was opened.

  • TSA policy requires that a TSA agent place a Notice of Inspection in each piece of luggage that was hand searched. If the SearchAlert Security Window shows red, and no official notice is inside the bag, the owner should take the luggage to a TSA agent immediately to determine if a counterfeit override device was used to remove or add anything to the luggage.

How to set your combination lock:

    1. Set the dials to 0-0-0 and pull out the shackle.
    2. Turn the shackle halfway around (180 degrees) and push in.
    3. Hold shackle down and turn 90 degrees (1/4 turn) in either direction.
    4. Set the dials to your own combination and memorize.
    5. Without moving the dials, return the shackle to the 180 degrees position. Pull out shackle and turn it 180 degrees.
    6. Push shackle in Ð it should not lock. Push shackle in and turn one or more dials Ð the shackle should lock.
    7. To test, turn dials to the new combination, pull shackle open.

Combination can only be changed when the lock is in the open position. Follow steps 2 through 6.

How to reset your Security Window back to Green:

    1. Set the dials to the correct combination and pull up the shackle.
    2. Turn the shackle 180 degrees, and push shackle in. The Security Window should change color from Red to Green.
    3. Pull up the shackle and the lock is ready for full use.
